With skill and persistence, Victor Berger works with clients to resolve their legal issues and maintains the firm’s philosophy to resolve disputes respectfully and avoid litigation, if possible. In addition to holding a law degree and maintaining his membership in the Maryland State and Howard County Bar Associations, Victor has been trained in mediation and collaborative law and applies these alternative techniques when appropriate. He is also a member of the Howard County Collaborative Professionals.

BIOGRAPHY

 

Victor began his legal career as a paralegal while attending Syracuse University. Since then, he has worked in smaller private practice firms devoted to providing personal and quality representation for their clients. In 2008, Victor started his own practice shortly thereafter followed by his partner and friend, Thomas Burns to form Berger & Burns, LLC. Having worked together previously, Victor and Tom understood that their combined knowledge and unique perspectives would create a natural complement. They now have worked together and for their clients for more than a decade and continue to provide advice and legal support with a personal touch and understanding.

 

Victor was born and raised in the Netherlands. In 1989, he graduated and received his law degree from the University of Nijmegen. That same year, he moved to the United States and attended Syracuse University School of Law.

 

In 1992, Victor was admitted to the practice of law in the State of New York. From 1992 until 2004, he resided and practiced law in New York State and obtained a significant amount of litigation experience in a variety of practice areas. In late 2004, he relocated to Baltimore and was admitted to the practice of law in Maryland in early 2005. Victor’s professional honors include a 2004 commendation for his instrumental work in the setting up and running of the Ontario County Drug Court in New York State and, in 2010, he was named an honoree of the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland. Further he is the current co-chair of the Delivery of Legal Services committee a subsection of the Maryland State Bar Association.

 

Victor and his wife, Lynnett, are the parents of four beautiful girls; they enjoy an active family life. His family very much enjoys partaking in the many possibilities and activities that are available in  Baltimore and the surrounding area, including sports and sports events, as well as museums, theater and festivals.
